Space, pattern and lines at Pelham

This week year 1 children completed their abstract pieces by playing with positive and negative space and contour lines.

They created another composition of shapes and then painted the spaces in-between or outlines with bright colours.

This created backgrounds for their textured. Can you see a car blowing leaves into the air?

or the tiny blue person in a busy place?

The older children have also been looking at shape and pattern. Following on from their explorations into line, colour and music. (click the links to see previous sessions).

They are now creating pattern sheets using cut stencils and shapes which will be used to make their own musical instruments – drums and rainsticks!
