Wild Art on Wimbledon Common
Join artist Philippa Snell for the second of our wild art workshops on Wimbledon common this October Half Term. We will use natural materials to respond creatively to the environment and seasons.
Learn different mini-building methods such as wattle and daub, knots and thatching to create a fantastical citadel with mini houses on the ground and raised up in the trees.
Explore ideas of what civilisations and communities are and what they need through the creation of a new imaginary place. Through storytelling develop situations and scenarios for new tribes – the ground people and the tree-dwellers.
Children will learn a variety of practical skills under close supervision whilst being given a great amount of creative freedom.
All activities will be outside and the course will end with an atmospheric, outdoor art installation for parents to come and experience.
Children will need to wrap up warm, bring waterproofs and boots. We will have shelters, plenty of activities to to keep us warm and dry and hot drinks even if the weather is terrible!
