Moving in the Shadows

As part of their work on the human figure Year One children have been experimenting with wire to make figures. See earlier post

Sabrina Smith Noble showed them how to create a small figure out of wire and cover it with foil.

Children were then able to manipulate their little doll into different positions.

They set them up behind a screen, lit from behind so they could watch the shadows they created.

They had fun moving them around to create different scenario’s

Children then drew the figures – it helped them with ideas of proportion, shape and form.

We then added a water-colour backdrop to our drawings.

I look forward to seeing the finished pictures that were created.
