Wimbledon Bookfest Launch
We are excited to be working with Wimbledon Bookfest this year to run a special 2 day Illustration course for children led by artist Ania Bas and Illustrator Amy Pennington
As part of the Wimbledon Bookfest launch weekend Ania and Amy designed a simple activity to get children interacting with their parents and surroundings.
We set up near the art hut on Wimbledon Piazza – only the weather was much nicer than this!!!
Children were encouraged to develop characters based on objects and things, giving them personalities and stories – bringing them to life and imagining the conversations they might have.
It was a simple taster activity to encourage children to take part in our Illustration course running over the next 2 Saturdays – 3 and 10 October. Bookfest are working with the 150th anniversary of Alice in Wonderland, so we also invited children to step through the looking glass with their parents or older siblings into another world where objects can talk. These activities will be extended during our course and children will work on large scale characters, with a variety of materials in teams then use them to create worlds and stories.
It was a lovely opportunity for parents to stop and interact with their children on something creative for a few moments!
Look what you can create with just a few moments of creative energy! Why not book a whole 2 days for your children to go through the looking glass, be inspired by a practising artist and illustrator and enter a whole new world of illustration to create characters and stories of their own.
Book now for the last few places on our course over the coming 2 Saturdays – 3rd and 10 October. Visit the Bookfest Website to book or contact Annabel at info@childrensartschool.org as a few extra places have just been released!
This activity was part of Bookfest and @lovewimbledon and their #autumnarts campaign
