Art of the Game – Day One
On this beautiful summers day artist Sarah Carne began our children’s art course by involving them in games to get us making decisions and choices.
We then worked in teams to think about things that make us happy and healthy.
This will form the basis for a giant game, which is to be about decision making, not chance and competition. These are some of the things that make us happy and healthy We then shared our ideas as a group and used them to play a second game of choices. Strawberries in chocolate or bananas in honey – which way do you go?
The next step was to start making the game board. We worked factory style to paint squares for a chequer board.
Even when all our pieces were the same – we still painted differently! It was more complicated than we thought to work out which numbers were black and which were white. We had to make a plan
We then painted and designed our numbers. All 100 of them!
We then went back to the ideas behind the game and discussed in our groups what we would like to change – at home, school and in the world.
We had to agree, prioritise then share with everyone.
It was surprising how much we all had in common…..it seems brussell sprouts are one of the worlds greatest problems – second only to ridding the world of money and world peace!
We had such a productive and enjoyable day! Hope you all sleep well and come bursting with ideas to put the game together tomorrow!
