Imaginary Buildings

The final Easter holiday session explored structures and shelters.

We began by cutting out geometric nets and constructing three dimensional forms.

Drawing simple shelters gave us the chance to look at their structures. We thought about how framing can build a structure around a square, circle, hexagon, square or triangle.

We discussed different properties of materials like flexibility and transparency as well as construction techniques including tabs around a curve, scoring and folding.

We thought about structures that increase strength including curves, triangles and tubes.
