Artist Abigail Hunt returned to Children’s Art School to lead another exploratory 2 day course looking at painting, collage and printmaking.

DSC_0522Children got of to a busy start by making their very own painting utensils. A variety of materials were used to make brushes, rollers and stampers. DSC_0498 DSC_0516DSC_0513DSC_0501 DSC_0523

We used feathers, bubble wrap, wood offcuts, wire – anything we could get our hands on.

We could roll, stamp, scratch, dab, flick the paint to create all sorts of new effects.DSC_0563 DSC_0564 DSC_0565 DSC_0568 DSC_0571 DSC_0573 DSC_0574 DSC_0575 DSC_0582 DSC_0586 DSC_0588 DSC_0591 DSC_0596 DSC_0601 DSC_0606 DSC_0609

By the end of the morning we had a huge variety of painted and drawn surfaces that we will use tomorrow to create new art works. DSC_0618 DSC_0619 DSC_0622 DSC_0625

After lunch we started to explore collage a little more. Abigail gave us a set of rules to work with for creating lots of little collages.DSC_0632 DSC_0633 DSC_0634 DSC_0635 IMG_1254IMG_1255IMG_1256IMG_1257DSC_0637 DSC_0639 DSC_0640 DSC_0641

We also experimented with home made filters to photograph our own work. All these techniques will add to the variety of surfaces that we will use tomorrow to make new works.IMG_1250IMG_1262IMG_1271IMG_1264 IMG_1265 IMG_1267

Finally we played with folding and scrunching a piece of paper to create abstract shapes  – we will find out what this will be used for tomorrow!IMG_1273 IMG_1275 IMG_1277Very productive first day – Click HERE to see how this work was transformed into new!
