Exploring drawing with KS1

Our Key Stage One Group has been very popular this year with lots of new children joining us.

Louise Pasquill assisted by Lana Lee, both practicing artists and illustrators, are experimenting with lots of fun drawing activities to get to know the children’s  creative little minds!

As a warm up exercise, we take an imaginary journey…here is a picture story of our travels.

We have experimented with drawing curious galactic creatures

and made magnetic bookmarks decorated with the same galactic creatures.

In a session about space and light, we used star, planet and moon stencils to create space pictures.

We pierced our drawings of animals with pins to create constellations. When we held the paper to the light the starry patterns shone through.

We have looked at portraits and expression, learning from Picasso!

created faces with shapes

…and played games to create collaborative faces.

We developed our drawings of faces with found natural materials – Autumn is the perfect time of year for this.
