Thinking in 3 dimensions with KS1 children
This term our Key stage 1 children took inspiration from our sculpture course that took place during the Easter Holidays – Thinking in Three Dimensions
Louise began exploring the qualities of plasticine
…and used various found objects to build little abstract sculptures which the children displayed.
They made drawings of their sculptures
And then made 2 dimensional collages based on their work
Can you see how they interpreted a 3D work using torn paper in 2D – very clever!
Next they went on to explore the qualities of carving using soap
They looked at soap stone carvings for inspiration
Its nice and soft for little fingers to carve.
Each child made a design to work from
It was lovely to touch and a good place to start when talking about texture.
The carving took lots of patience
